1. The state is the 8th most extensive and the 22nd most populous state of the United States and it is bordered by Wyoming to the north, the Midwest states of Nebraska and Kansas to the northeast and east, on the south by New Mexico and Oklahoma, on the west by Utah, and Arizona to the southwest.

2. Due to its vivid landscape of mountains, forests, high plains, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers, and desert lands; Colorado is known as the most beautiful state in the United States.

3. The State was accepted into the Union of United States on August 1, 1876, when the then U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant signed a proclamation admitting it as the 38th state. Colorado derives its nickname the "Centennial State" from the fact that it joined the Union during the centennial year of the United States Declaration of Independence.

4. The State of Colorado is the only state in history to reject hosting the Olympics. In 1976, it was poised to host the Olympic Winter Games but 62 percent of population voted the decision down due to the games effect on environment, their cost and population influx.

5. Grand Mesa, a mountain located in Colorado is the world's largest flat mountain.
