Have some Turkish coffee and sweets in Ankara, Turkey

A city throbbing with energy and international flair, Ankara is often called the “Green City” of Turkey.  It might not be as popular as Istanbul, but its historical significance, panoramic landscapes, and laid back atmosphere must not be overlooked.

People often make the mistake of thinking that Istanbul is the capital of Turkey. Ankara is the capital of the country and the seat of the government. This is where you will find the embassies, the home of the parliament, and Ankara University, the first University founded in the Republic of Turkey. If you love Turkish coffee and sweets, the first thing you must do is hang out in Kizilay, the business and social epicenter of the city. It is filled with cafes, restaurants, shops, nightclubs, and bars. You can spend an afternoon just people watching and chatting with the locals. You might also want to savor some kebabs, roasted lamb, and Pilav in one of its restaurants.  Because of its historical significance, the city has a lot of attractions that will appeal to history buffs including the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, Haci Bayram Mosque, Ulucanlar Prison Museum, Anakara Palace, Ankara Citadel, Ethnographic Museum, and Cengelhan Rahmi M. Koc Museum, You can also take a stroll through the restored Hamamonu District where some of the museums are located, and a place where you can learn more about the way of life of its people.
